Trip Report

Basic Snowshoe - Reflection & Louise Lakes

A successful, snowy trip, with every one who ended participating, enjoying the time.

  • Snow and ice on road
  • Road from entrance of Mt. Rainier Nat'l Park onwards was covered with ice/snow. Traction tires required, or chains.

upon entering Mt. Rainier Nat'l park required traction tires (carry chains) on all vehicles, those with just two wheel drive were told to put on chains prior to entering the Park. all vehicles had traction tires so slow speed and careful driving enabled up to arrive successfully at Narada Falls.

Snowing at Narada Falls limited visibilty to about 1/2 miles distance. Initiated trip and snowshoed to an overlook of Louise Lake. We returned to Reflection Lake for lunch. Afterwards, we climbed over the lower end of Mazama Ridge to Paradise Road, then back to Narada Falls.

Snow had stopped falling, but sky remained low overcast.

Great trip, but with no views, only a '4'.
