Basic Snowshoe - Lanham Lake

This was a very easy to navigate trip. No issues but more snow would make it better if only the weather would cooperate!

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Route was fine, but we still could use more snow out there. With all the rain and wind of late, it felt more like a spring trip due to all the tree debris on top of the snow!

Parking lot had not been plowed so the snow was about 6 inches deep and melting in places so walking to the portapotties was a wet experience! No permits required but one must park outside the gate for the nordic center. We weren't the first group of the day so we only had to break trail the second half of the trail once we caught up to the first group. There was about 6" of new snow making it a bit more challenging to find the trail and kick steps. We weren't in a hurry, being such a short trip, so it took us 1.5 hours to get to the lake and then an hour back to the cars. Not a good drive-to-snowshoe ratio, but still worth it!
