Basic Snowshoe - Lake Kachess & Box Canyon Creek

Fine beginner snowshoe with easy access.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Short drive from I-90 exit 62, on paved road, to turn-around at Sno-Park. This Sno-Park is popular with snowmobilers, but the route is wide and it's easily shared. At about two miles, you can turn right and avoid almost or all of the traffic. There are sanicans at the turn-around.

A good snowshoe for beginners with some interest for anyone wanting to get out. The weather was wet; the early snow turned to light rain by the end of the day, so everyone’s gear got a test. We hiked into Box Canyon and stopped for lunch near the waterfall. Less snow than usual and more snowmobiles than usual. Everyone did very well.
