They are doing road work on the road leading to Paradise on weekdays during daylight hours. We had delays of 10-20 minutes both ways and they advertise delays of up to 30 minutes each way.
The trail was mostly melted out to the lake and the scree below the first gully was also snow free and a bit of a pain. The upper steep slope was in shape but the final steep step to gain the upper ridge was melted out and moated. we opted to traverse east and up the gully on the other side to gain the ridge. This was also partly melted out and scree'ish on the upper slope. On the descent we opted to go down the normal route off the ridge and did a short 30' rappel to go past the moat.
Car to car time was 8.5 hours, mainly due to a slow approach.
