Backpack - Indian Heaven

Due too new East Crater Fire long the PCT we evacuated out of Indian Heaven Wilderness Sunday morning.

Our party hiked into Indian Heaven Wilderness Saturday to Junction Lake. Sunday morning as we were packing up for a day hike tour of the surrounding area we saw what I believe to be the very first smoke from the East Crater Fire south of our location within .5 miles cutting off our exit along the pct . We assessed the condition with other local campers and backpackers and made the choice to hike out by an alternate unmarked route that a group of two families came in on with approximately 30-35 people and dogs. While the alternative route was unmarked it was a well worn and direct path to our trailhead. Everyone helped each other along both in our party and other groups with humor and kindness .
