Alpine Scramble - Silver Peak

We switched the location from Meany Crest in hopes of being drier.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Good but wet, no snow until about 4900'.

We switched locations in hopes of getting better weather, it might have been better but it was a wet mess on the way down.  Students did great, good attitude in spite of less than optimal conditions.  We kicked a lot of steps in poor snow and then did some wet and messy glissades.  Our 1000' brush bash was great fun, we were able to see Devils Club just starting to emerge for later this summer.  The way down was supplemented with more rain so that our traverse of the wet talus had a higher degree of difficulty.  With the varied terrain this would qualify has a SNOW or ROCK Scramble.
