Alpine Scramble - Kendall Peak

Very easy scramble with great views

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Trail is in very good shape other than a half  dozen fallen logs to get over and one really large one to crawl under. The views were spectacular as always and plenty of variety of terrain with shade in the trees and sun in the scree crossings. No snow. Bugs were annoying.

Started from the lot at 8:30. Parking lot was close to full already. We made the turn up to the Peak before 11:30 and hit the summit around noon. The climb from the trail to the Peak is around 400 feet elevation gain and steep with loose rock and soil in places. Once one starts up from the trail junction, the climbers path sort of reveals itself as you go along. We stayed sort of right and up going under a steep rock face and then traversing to the ridge. Well worth the trip though for the views. Hiking back down to TH was uneventful, and we returned to car around 3pm.
