Trip Report

Alpine Scramble - Hidden Lake Peak

Great weather to start. Sat in a cloud at the top. 9am-4pm trip with no issues.

  • Road rough but passable

A little bit of snow on trail route.  Once out of the forest it was snow the rest of the way up. Since it was great visibility we did a more direct route and cut some distance off.  This was nice to avoid a lot of side stepping.

Cloud came in as we got near the top so we had to stay right and not go too far to the left and the ridge to lake.  Snow was soft and easy to kick into. No need for spikes etc.

Snow cover was a lot greater than 2 years ago. So we  were able to slide down a lot more than I thought we were going to do.

    Happy trails ..

Road bumpy but fine for normal trail cars. Only 3 cars up at TH in the morning.

Saw a marmot as we started climbing the creek area.

Weather start clear and then closed in at the top, but no rain.  Still needed sunscreen as one member got a bit of a sunburn.

Everyone used ice axe and helmets. My GPS said that we did the trip in 5.5 miles as we went more direct on the top half to the peaks.
