Alpine Scramble - Bryant Peak/Hemlock Pass

A group of 7 had a great time on a scramble of Bryant Peak on 8/14/16. It was a beautiful day, rather warm but with an occasional cooling breeze, and we spent a nice long break on top, soaking in the views.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The stream course leading to the talus below the summit is dry by now; following it avoids a lot of brush and also provides some fun rock scrambling.  We used the slope below the saddle between the two summits for both ascending and descending.  Rockfall is an issue on the upper 500 vertical feet or so, but it wasn't too difficult to take a path that minimized the risk.

Bryant doesn't seem to get climbed very often, despite its proximity to an extremely popular trail.  The summit register has just a few small sheets of paper, and it looked like there were only a handful of visits over the past couple of years.
