Alpine Scramble - Arrowhead Mountain

In spite of forecast conditions, pleasant day on Arrowhead.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles

  •  Parked at the Berne maintenance facility entrance. Snow conditions mostly hard with a slight skiff of fresh powder on the ridge. Still able to kick steps.  Easy travel all day long. Great plunge stepping on way down. 

    Took snowshoes but did not use them. Some use of  microspikes, but doable without.

Took the most common route along the tracks before heading almost directly south to gain the ridge at  approximately 4800 feet.  Roughly 4 hours on the ascent. Less than 2 1/2 hours down.
