Getting There

The town with the nearest access to the most popular areas in the Wind Rivers is Pinedale, Wyoming, 75 miles southeast of Jackson.

About the Area

A dramatic range of mountains in western Wyoming that range in elevation from 8,000 ft to 13,000 ft.  Hiking, backpacking, scrambling, and climbing opportunities abound. The Continental  Divide Trail (CDT) bisects the range from North to South. One can spend a week or more high above the tree-line exploring lakes, peaks and plateaus.  There are a wide range of well maintained trails, but the openness of the alpine beckons off-trail travel and exploration.
