About the Neighborhood
Seattle's Wallingford neighborhppd spreads across a hill above the north shore of Lake Union. It was a classic streetcar suburb, with trolley tracks laid through the neighborhood to access the nearby University of Washington. Numerous 1920s craftsman houses and bungalows typify construction in the area. Commercial development is primarily concentrated along North 45th Street. Iconic structures include the neon WALLINGFORD sign, the Wallingford Center, and the original Dick's Drive-In. Wallingford extends from Gas Works Park to the south and Greenlake Park to the north, providing numerous possibilities for urban walks with views of both the Olympic and Cascade mountains.
