Port Townsend: North Beach to McCurdy Point
Sea kayak along the Port Townsend peninsula.
Launch point
North Beach: A county park at 5787 Kuhn Street in Port Townsend. No permits are required, and porta-potties are available.
on the water
Because of eddies, current flows gently from west to east close to shore. Once you've paddled 100 yards west of North Beach, high bluffs protect from south winds all the way to McCurdy Point, but may be windy beyond that. Glass Beach (rounded sea glass marbles) is 100 yards beyond the McCurdy Point and a better landing, wind permitting.
Information for Leaders
