Pleasant Valley Loop

Hike along the American River on the Pleasant Valley Loop east of Chinook Pass

Getting There

Goat Peak Trailhead

Drive SR-410 60 miles from Enulclaw and turn right into the Goat Peak Trailhead parking area. In winter, this is the Hell's Crossing Sno-Park.

The trail can also be accessed from SR-410 at the Union Creek Trailhead, Crow Creek Way Trailhead, and Fife's Ridge Trailhead.

On the Trail

The trail can be hiked in a few different ways, out and back and loops. Shorter loops require fording the American River. Here are a few options from the Goat Peak Trailhead.

5-mile out and back: Hike from the Goat Peak Trailhead on the south side of SR-410 to the intersection with Pleasant Valley Lake Trail and down to the American River to take in views of Fife's Peak across the valley.

6-mile or 7.5-mile loop: Hike either side along SR-410 and cross near the Fife's Peak Viewpoint for the 6 mile loop or at Pleasant Valley Campground for the 7.5 mile loop and ford the American River.

12.5 mile loop: Hike either side along SR-410 and cross east of the Lodgepole Campground and west of Union Creek. No ford is required for this loop but it does cross a lot of prior burn area.
