on the trail
Enter Wild Sky Wilderness a short distance from the trailhead and hike up switchbacks through an area burned by wildfire in 1967. After leaving the burned area, gain elevation gradually as you enter the Henry M. Jackson Wilderness. Reach Fortune Ponds at 6.5 miles, climb to Frozen Finger Gap, drop down heading south towards Pear Lake. At Pear Lake the trail ends at its junction with the Pacific Crest Trail.
