Olallie Creek

Hike to Olallie Creek Campground in beautiful Mt. Rainier. This trail offers a walk through old growth woodland, colorful blooms and berries to an isolated creekside campsite on the way to the Cowlitz Divide and Indian Bar. The Grove of the Patriarchs is an easy addition to this hike.

getting there

Drive SR-123 to 11 miles south of its junction with SR-410 and turn west onto Stevens Canyon Road, enter Mount Rainier National Park, and continue 0.6 mile. The trailhead is located on the right after crossing over Fall Creek. There is space for roughly eight cars.

On the trail

From the Stevens Canyon Road, hike the Cowlitz Divide Trail 2.8 miles to Ollalie Creek and the campground.

Extending Your Trip

  • Continue up the trail another 1.4 miles and 750 feet of elevation gain to the Wonderland Trail.
  • Visit the Grove of the Patriarchs which adds a relatively flat 3 miles round trip. From the parking area, hike south on the Silver Loop Trail 0.4 miles to a short connector trail. From there, hike north on the Eastside Trail, cross the road and continue another 0.3 miles to the loop trail on the right. Enjoy the massive Douglas firs, hemlocks, and cedars.
