Nesakwatch Spires

Two rock spires in British Columbia, Canada that offer several alpine climbing options. Near the Chiliwack River, etwo spires are located between Illusion Peaks and Mount Rexford.

getting there

Drive Canadian Highway 1 east to Exit 119, turn left on Chilliwack Lake Road and follow it 18.7 miles.  Immediately after passing Riverside Campground turn right. At the T, turn right (the road gets much worse from here), stay left for a couple road intersections, then turn right at 3.7 miles from pavement.  Drive one more mile, unless the road is washed out.

approach

Head steeply up following good tape for about 4,000 feet in a couple of miles.  At 6,000 ft you should be in a basin with the spire above you and camping to the right at about 6,500 ft and across the talus.

Ascent

north spire, north ridge

This is an good climb by itself, but much better as part of a traverse of the spires.  It forms the left skyline of the spires and varies from Class 3 to Class 5 climbing.
