Gray Wolf–Dosewalips–Cameron Loop

A week long trek through the heart of the Olympic Mountains. This is a 50+ mile loop backpack that passes through Gray Wolf River Valley, Gray Wolf Pass, Dose Meadows, Hayden Pass, Lost Pass, Cameron Pass, and Cameron Creek Valley.

getting there

Drive US-101 2.5 miles west of Sequim and turn left onto Taylor Cutoff Road. Turn  right onto Lost Mountain Road in 2.6 miles and then left onto Forest Road 2870 in 2.6 miles. Drive 1 mile and take the right fork onto Forest Road 2875. Continue 3.5 miles to the Slab Camp Trailhead (2,550 ft).

Suggested Itinerary starting at slab camp

Day 1: Hike 8 miles from the Slab Camp trailhead to Gray Wolf Camp.

Day 2:  Hike 8 miles to Cedar Lake, set up camp, explore lake, ridges and pass.

Day 3:  Hike 11.5 miles to Dose Meadows Camp.

Day 4: Explore Dose Meadows, Thousand Acre Meadows, Hayden Pass, Scramble Sentinel Peak (optional), and spend a second night at Dose Meadows Camp.

Day 5: Hike 4 miles over both Lost Pass and Cameron Pass.  Camp at Upper Cameron, and spend the remainder of day exploring upper basins around passes.

Day 6: Explore more of upper basins in the morning, then hike 9 miles downhill to Three Forks Camp.

Day 7: Hike 8 miles out to the trailhead.
