Dayhike and Explore the National Parks, People, Food, and Culture of Cuba

Cuba, with its mix of Spanish and African roots, is the largest, least commercialized, and most exciting island in the Caribbean. It is also one of the world's last bastions of communism with a fascinating modern history.

Visit Cuba for year-round pleasant weather, unspoiled natural areas, and beaches; explore Cuba's colonial cities, history, art, and architecture; visit nine World Heritage sites, mountain ranges and rain forests; see the world's smallest bird - one of over 370 bird species, 27 which are endemic to the island and 29 considered globally threatened; view many unique or endangered trees and plants; and experience Cuban hospitality. United States citizens traveling to Cuba must comply with regulations of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), which is part of the US Treasury Department. Tourism is not allowed. As of 2023, travel must comply with one of twelve categories in the general OFAC permit. For current regulations, consult the US Code of Federal Regulations: https://ofac.treasury.gov/sanctions-programs-and-country-information/cuba-sanctions

GETTING THERE

Entry to Cuba is through Havana, primarily on flights from Miami. Visitors meeting the rules of the OFAC for tourist travel to Cuba (see above link for details) must fill out the necessary forms and comply with very specific rules to legally travel to and enter Cuba. Additional OFAC rules involve actions and paperwork required after returning to the US.
