Cinnamon Trail–Kalama River Loop

A strenuous, 14.4 mile loop hike with 2,600 feet of elevation gain with views of Mount St. Helens, Mount Rainier, Goat Mountain, Mount Adams an more. The Kalama River Trail is also known as the Toutle Trail. These trails are open to horses and bikes.

Take Exit 21 (Woodland) off of I-5 and drive SR-503 east 28 miles. Turn left onto Forest Road 81 an drive 9.1 miles to the trailhead (2,040 ft), 0.2 mile past the horse camp.

Cinnamon Trail–Kalama River Loop

14.4-mile loop with 2,600 feet f elevation gain, 4,000 ft high point

The loop starts and ends at the Toutle Trail trailhead. At the junction before crossing the Kalama River, Cinnamon Trail on the right travels through old-growth forest along the raging river. The trail climbs away from the river and views emerge - from the Kalama Valley to Mount Rainier and all high points in between. Views of Mount St. Helens, Mount Adams, Mount Hood, Goat Mountain, the Souixon Peaks, Silver Star Mountain and McBride Lake are the pride of this trail. Turning left from Redrock Pass is the Kalama River, aka Toutle Trail, the return path of the loop.
