on the water

Squaxin Island is owned by the Squaxin Indian Tribe and no landing on the island is permitted. With no permanent residences on the island, it is undeveloped and wild. The tribe maintains a fish farm in Peale Passage on the island's east side.  A former Washington State Park lies on the island's southwest end. While tidal currents circulate the island, clockwise on an ebb and counterclockwise on a flood, it is possible to do the trip either direction on most tide cycles.
