  • Mileage: 12.0 mi

  • High Point Elevation: 5,935 ft

Longmire Museum at 7AM.

Consistent with recent rains and a freezing level near 9000’, the snow depth near the Mildred Point elevation (a bit higher than Paradise) is much less than normal.  Here’s a webcam photo of the area near Paradise (representative of current conditions at Mildred Point):

This means the Comet Falls trail (an area I normally avoid in the Winter), should be in great shape and may allow us to see Comet Falls on our way to Mildred Point.

To achieve a loop we will begin/end at Longmire, with a bit of cross country map/compass travel between the Cougar Rock Picnic Area and the Comet falls trailhead.  We will return via Rampart Ridge with a possible visit to Point 4100.  Photos from past trips to this venue can be seen here.
