Whitewater Packraft - Middle Fork Snoqualmie River: Taylor River to Concrete Bridge

A class II packraft trip as a mentored lead for Alex Bond

  • Class II River
  • Easy
  • Mileage: 8.0 mi
Subject to change if the destination changes
The take-out has unreliable cell service, so we will meet at the parking lot of the McDonald's in North Bend at 9 AM - 735 SW Mt Si Blvd, North Bend, WA 98045 https://maps.app.goo.gl/JxCux6yLdP5BbXgX6
From there, we will caravan to the take-out at the concrete bridge: https://maps.app.goo.gl/RZS3vbY5iwq7Z6bY7 and then shuttle to the put-in at the Middle Fork Snoqualmie trailhead: https://maps.app.goo.gl/qEPEvc5z9utDAybz9
Our intention is to paddle a class II river of a relatively easy whitewater difficulty. As with all river trips, this trip is contingent upon the river flow running at a reasonably safe and fun level, and the destination will be finalized (or the trip cancelled if need be) as the trip date approaches. The route may be changed to another one of a similar class or difficulty depending on conditions - the Upper Middle Fork Snoqualmie River is plan A, and the White River from Buckley to Auburn or Skykomish from Big Eddy to Monroe are other candidates. This will be a mentored lead trip for Alex Bond.
The Upper Middle Fork is an extremely scenic stretch of river, with many good class II rapids in the first half of the float. The river flattens out in the second half but still has some interesting rapids. Ideally we would see flows around 1500-2500 CFS, preferably 2000-2500.
