Tacoma Narrows

Sea Kayak - Tacoma Narrows

Short notice downwind storm paddle from Luhr Beach to Owen Beach.

  • Sea Kayak IV/V
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 17.6 nm
  • Maximum Wind: 35 kts
  • Maximum Waves: 4 ft
  • Maximum Currents: 3.5 kts
  • Pace: 3 kt

Meet at Owen Beach at 8:30am to consolidate boats on cars. Then we will drive to Luhr Beach to launch around 10:00am

Storm forecast with 20kt south winds and potential gusts to 35kt should provide some good downwind conditions. Paddlers need to have experience with high winds and waves with good rescue skills. With the outgoing tide and south wind, I expect that we will be off the water by around 3pm.
