Priority is for Tacoma Basic students who need to rent equipment, then students from all branches who need to rent boats. After June 1 all students are welcome to register. To rent a kayak or drysuit please visit: https://www.olympicoutdoorcenter.com/pages/rental-gear#kayaks  Reserve your equipment as early as you can. 

Assistant leaders from all branches are welcome to register. 

Bring extra layers to keep warm during wet exit and rescue practice. Bring lunch, snacks, and pack a warm drink if the weather is chilly.

Required Equipment

These essentials plus The Ten Essentials are required on all sea kayaking trips.  All but the whistle and immersion wear & clothing should be provided with any kayak rental.

 Sea kayak with flotation in both ends and grab lines along the perimeter. Flotation can
be compartments separated from the cockpit by bulkheads or bags specifically
designed to provide the kayak flotation. A sea sock is not adequate flotation without
float bags.
 Paddle
 Paddle float
 Spray skirt (or similar)                                             
 Cold water immersion wear
 First aid supplies
 Spare Clothing to change into if worn layers get wet and that will keep you warm if
inactive on shore for several hours.
