This trip takes advantage of current assists in Hammersley Inlet on both departure and return. There is a small eddyline to practice in briefly as we exit Hammersley Inlet. Squaxin Island is part of the Squaxin Tribal Nation and is one of the few undeveloped islands in South Puget Sound. The bays are relatively pristine and have good bird habitat. Hope Island State Park has an old homestead and orchard as well as hiking trails.
Wheels are useful at the Walker Park launch. Discovery Passes are not required and parking is free. Walker Park has flush toilets. Hope Island has pit toilets. There is no landing on Squaxin Island.
