Sail - Balance, Shilshole Bay Marina

Welcome to the Training Sail session of the 2023 Seattle Mountaineers Sailing Course for Saturday, June 10th 10AM. This sailing activity is for those students who signed up for Saturday, June 10th at the last class session.

  • Easy
  • Mileage: 10.0 nm

Please read the information below prior to the session.

My boat, s/v Balance, is located at Shilshole Bay Marina - 7001 Seaview Ave NW, E Dock, Seattle, WA 98117.

I’ll be meeting everyone at the E Dock gate. E Dock is located at the south end of the marina. Non-Permit parking is available in the first two rows next to the street. Street parking is also available.

I have a refrigerator, oven and food storage. Please pack items in a soft sided bag or backpack and refrain from bringing hard sided coolers as they take up space and are hard to store.

I have a limited supply of extra lifejackets so please bring your own if you own one. Sailing (or hiking/biking) gloves, sunglasses, hat, and sunscreen are always recommended. Please wear NON-MARKING shoes.

Unless the weather is horrible this activity will meet as scheduled. If it is cancelled, I will email or phone you to coordinate an alternate sailing date .

If you are running late or unable to attend, please call or text my cell so adjustments can be made.

Please feel free to call me if you have any questions or concerns

 Look forward to seeing you,

Lani

The Sailing Essentials

Don’t leave the dock without these items! They make sailing safer for you and your crewmates. As a carrier, use a soft duffel bag for easy stowing without metal buckles that can scratch woodwork.

  • Non-skid deck shoes (or sea boots) with non-marking soles.
  • Heavy-duty gloves (preferably leather) for line handling (fingertips cut off is OK).
  • Warm clothing head to foot (Note: The ambient temperature on the water is usually lower than on land).
  • Foul-weather gear
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
