Naturalist Trip - Cle Elum Ridge, North Ridge & Mount Clifty
David Droppers, a butterfly and moth expert, will be leading a butterfly and moth field trip. We will be driving up West Taneum and Manastash roads, stopping at multiple locations as we rise in elevation to observe and learn about butterflies in these various ecosystems. This is not a hike. See leader notes please.

Butterflies will be netted and placed in jars for observation. The people doing this have many years of experience. This activity will be canceled if the weather is not conducive to butterfly feeding, we will need somewhat warm and sunny weather. This will be an all day event. We plan to meet at Preston Park & Ride at 7:30 am and head out to our activity location starting point (TBD on exact meeting place). We will likely get started around 9 or so on the activity once we arrive in the Cle Elum area. We will need to let things warm up a bit so that the butterflies will be out and active - so the key is to remain flexible and go with the flow.
We plan to eat snacks and your own packed lunch as needed and as group prefers/activities flow. Please do bring enough water and food for the day.
