  • Mileage: 3.1 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 900 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 1,101 ft
  • Pace: 2.0-2.5 mph

Meet at 4:20 pm at private residence in Newcastle...details will be e-mailed a couple of days before hike. Following introductions, description of route and current trail conditions, plan to start hiking at 4:30 pm. There are no public bathrooms at the trail head or anywhere on the route.

This is being scheduled as a hike for the Foothills Branch Council. If you are a part of the Council or are an invited guest, you may register without Leader Permission. On April 22, the hike will become open to general membership.

We'll stick together as a group at about ~2.0 mph uphill until we get to the De Leo Wall Lookout, stop for a min, then continue on until we start to cut back on Wildside and Marshall Hills Trails. We'll take a quick picture at the water tower, then head back to reconnect with Terrace Trail. The trail is mostly narrow, so single file.

Please contact the leader at before registering if you have not recently done a hike of similar mileage and elevation gain, and have any doubt about your fitness and stamina to keep up. Also, if you are a fast hiker and feel ~2.0-2.5 mph with a couple of stops along the trail is insufficient of a work-out for you, please consider if this trip is a good match for your abilities. We hike as a group.

Full details will be emailed shortly after registration closes on May 2. In the interim please contact the leader with any questions: BMPeacock@aol.com.
