Day Hike - Snoquera Palisades

A woodland hike with beautiful waterfalls. There are views of the White River Valley and Mt. Rainier if the day is clear.

7:30 AM, Maple Valley Park & Ride (alternate meet place for south enders if arranged in advance)

This is one of my go to spring conditioning hikes. It is 10 miles past Greenwater and so not too far a drive to enjoy some wilderness before the high country melts out. Microspikes will be required. We should be able to get to at least the first viewpoint withiout them in April, but one never knows.

I checked my activities list. I have led this one nine times in the past ten years. Once we had to change route because the creek was not safe to cross. We have not yet had siginificant weather issues. If we do, I will most likely change the date. This is the critieria I set for myself: a prediction of thunderstorms, total rain accumulation of more than half an inch or wind is rated strong breeze or higher.
