Day Hike - Rainbow Falls State Park

This is a Family Hike through one of the last remaining stands of old growth forest in the upper Chehalis valley. We’ll start at the trailhead on SR 6 across the river from the State Park campground, and hike on various loop trails through a hillside forest of ancient cedars and hemlock. We’ll see lots of small waterfalls in the hillside creeks that we cross.

Meet at 12:00 pm at the Rainbow Falls State Park trailhead on State Route 6 west of Chehalis.  A State Discover Pass is required. Specific directions will be given in a pre-Hike email. We anticipate hiking for about 3 hours.

This is a family hike with priority given to kids with adults:

  • The hike is appropriate for children of all ages but trails are not suitable for strollers.
  • The trails are single-track paths through ferns and dense undergrowth and may be muddy.  Water-resistant boots will help keep you dry.
  • We will hike rain or shine.
