Day Hike - Poo Poo Point

This is a hike specifically for Seattle Mountaineers Youth Clubs parents and volunteers.

  • Easy/Moderate
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 9.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,000 ft

We'll meet at the East Sunset Way trailhead at 8:30am. Drive time from central Seattle is approximately 30 minutes. You will not need a parking pass at this lot. Carpooling encouraged.

This hike is part of a Conditioning Hiking Series meant for parents and volunteers in the Seattle Mountaineers youth clubs. Please request leader permission to register, making sure to state your role in the youth clubs (hike leader, parent chaperone, general QYL volunteer, etc.) to confirm eligibility for this hike. Thank you! Registration will open to all general Mountaineers members on Monday 11/20/2023.

We'll be hiking approximately 8.5 miles, 1900' elevation gain at a moderate pace of 2.0 to 2.5mph. This approach to Poo Poo point follows the longer, moderately steep, less frequented trail. You'll find it quite pleasant! As this is a conditioning hike, we will aim for a brief stop or two along the trail for layer adjustment/water/party separation breaks. We will also take a short break at the upper viewpoint for a bite to eat.

More hike details and recent trail reports can be found here on the WTA website.

NOTE: I will likely have my large and very friendly golden retriever, Zoe, along for the hike. She's a seasoned hiker and valiant leader and will not hold us back. That said, please let me know if you're dog-averse or have allergies, and I'll leave her behind.

See you all at the trailhead! Feel free to contact me directly with any questions. Happy hiking!
