Day Hike - Mount Washington (Snoqualmie)

Moderate Pace to a great vista.

  • Strenuous
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 8.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,200 ft
  • Pace: Middle-aged Average (or a bit slower)

The official meeting place is the East Sunset Trailhead parking lot in Issaquah at 8:00 AM. It is 100 yards south of I-90 at exit #18.  The address is 665 E Sunset Way, Issaquah, WA. We can carpool from there to the trailhead.

If you are coming from the south end up SR 18, please make a note of that in the carpool notes so you can arrange a carpool from the Maple Valley/Kent area.

You can optionally just meet us at the trailhead, between 8:25 - 8:30 AM (I-90, Exit 38, turn right, then take the first right and you are there).

If you are not going to meet us in Issaquah, please let me know the day or two before the trip

Mt Washington is located just past North Bend on the south side of I-90.  It has a great view towards Rainier and down into the Chester Morris Reservoir basin which is the water supply for the south half of King County.

This is a very popular hike on weekends, but during the week it should be fairly quiet.

This hike is the official “mentored hike” for me as I am working toward becoming a hike leader.  Chris Ensor is the “official mentor”.

This is a “strenuous” hike with 3200’ of gain, but the pace will be moderate and we will take plenty of breaks on the way up and down.  If you have hiked at least 2500’ recently please join us.

WTA route description.

I will send out email two days before the trip.
