Day Hike - Mailbox Peak

Early Spring Mailbox, up the old, down the new!

  • Very Strenuous, Snow Scramble, Winter Scramble
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 11.2 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 4,100 ft
  • Pace: 1000ft/hr

North Bend Safeway 6:45 a.m. to carpool. This is recommended, since parking at the TH is tight. If you'd rather not carpool, then TH (bathrooms), 7:10.

All participants must be fully vaccinated, including boosted. Please send vax card, or have the vax badge when requesting leader permission.

We've already lost one Mountaineers friend to Covid who chose to remain unvaccinated. No Exceptions!

We'll go up the old trail, gaining 4100ft in about 3 miles, and come down the new trail, which is 5 miles and gentler on the knees.

We'll go at a pace of around 1000ft/hr and won't leave anyone behind. Faster people or those training for bigger climbs are welcome to load up their packs :-)

Information re: gear (winter vs. spring) will be sent the week before the activity.

Terrible weather or high avalanche danger will cancel the hike, but we can do Little Si/Mt. Si Old Trail as a Plan B.
