Day Hike - Grass Lake Nature Reserve

This Family hike will explore the birds and amphibians in this city wildlife area. This is a part of a four part Tuesday night hiking series for families.

We will meet at the trailhead on 6th street at 5:00. Specific instructions will be sent prior to the hike.

We'll start with a bird filled loop through the forest, past beaver habitat and thatcher ants, followed by a stop at the lake for for a sack dinner (bring your own) and a surprise snack provided by the leader.  We will  look for frogs, salamanders, bugs, and water birds.  Bring your binoculars or use ours to see all the spring birds singing and nesting. 

Please dress for the weather.

This hike is for kids accompanied by an adult. Single adults admitted only if they do not displace any families.

 All participants must be registered.

This activity is appropriate for kids 3 and over or infants in packs.

Parents must bring a pack with Family Essentials, including a family first aid kit, water, spare food, and spare clothing.

All kids should bring a backpack with a waist strap if possible, their own water, spare clothes.

A pad to sit on for picnicking will be nice.  Don't forget your picnic!

Nature guides and bird/animal apps add fun.

We will bring magnifying loops, binoculars, and nets.
