Day Hike - Frog Mountain

Day Hike on a relatively new trail off Highway 2!

  • Moderate
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 8.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,200 ft
  • Pace: 2-3mph

Meeting at the trailhead parking area off of Jack Pass by an old quarry at 7:15am, with boots on and ready to hike at 7:30am. This is a bit early to plan for getting off Highway 2 before the majority of the traffic starts.  WTA says no parking pass is required.

This  trip will be a moderate day hike on a fairly new trail up to Frog Mountain in the Wild Sky Wilderness. I worked on this trail with WTA a few years back but haven't made it out since it was completed! From trip reports on WTA and one from fellow Mountaineers it looks to be a pleasant outing with some nice views. This is a moderate distance/elevation gain,  registration open to all but please have completed at least a six mile hike with 1,500' of elevation gain prior to this if you're relatively new to hiking. Registration opens about two weeks before the trip. Anyone desiring to assistant lead, feel free to email me any time and I'll add you if the spot is open.

Pacing will be 2-3mph, we'll stick together as a group on the way up and can spread out a bit on the way down if desired.

The trip will go with light precipitation but will be cancelled for heavy rain.

An email will be sent after signup closes with some further details.
