Day Hike - Dirty Harry's Peak

Going for the View. If weather or conditions not view favorable, there’s a nearby alternate hike. The roughness of the former logging road -- large rocks, possibly slippery by water or frost -- and uncompromising inclines after the Balcony makes this a difficult hike. READ LEADER'S NOTE

  • Strenuous
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 10.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,700 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 4,400 ft
  • Pace: 1.5 mph (average moving pace)
  • Must bring microspikes & hiking poles.
  • If you want to go faster than 1.5mph (overall avg) this hike is not for you. Pace takes into consideration likely trail and weather conditions.
  • Even if we don’t make it to the destination, planned turnaround time gets us back to vehicles no later than 2:30pm.
  • Alternate hike: Hike to a logging truck artifact at Truck Summit via Zigzag trail with loop route return via Hall Creek trail (8.5 mi, 4000'gain). Note: I haven’t hiked the Hall Creek trail; so, this part will be exploratory. You must be comfortable with this exploratory aspect. It could be brushy and wet (or not). If conditions are hazardous, we’ll turnaround to return the way we came.
  • Hike will be canceled or rescheduled if there are hazardous trail, weather or road conditions, or heavy rainfall/snowfall.
  • Be aware that I screen the activity profile of those who register. This is to assure that everyone will be able to complete the route safely. If your activity profile doesn't show similar trips, you may be contacted for more information.
