Trip

Day Hike - Dash Point State Park

Explore the forested trails of Dash Point State Park

  • Easy
  • Mileage: 6.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 900 ft
  • Pace: 2 mph

We will meet at the  Dash Point Highlands Park which is adjacent to the State Park at 5300 SW 324th Pl, Federal Way, WA 98023.  Please note:  This is not the State Park lot, it is in a neighborhood!  No bathrooms available at the park.

Time:  9:45am

You may arrange carpools within the group if you like.  I also believe this parking lot is near a Metro bus stop.

We will hike a variety of trails in Dash Point State Park, stopping to enjoy the fauna and birdsong along the way.  Plan to arrive at the Beach for lunch around low tide (12:36pm) and do some beachcombing/tide pool exploring and then return to the parking lot.

Here is the GAIA map of our proposed route:    https://www.gaiagps.com/public/VrrRngynhxlTf9jfUb4Va3MZ/

Here is the State Park trail map with the parking lot location: DashPoint_TrailsMap_03.16.2023.pdf (wa.gov)

Please note that many of these trails are shared use with Mountain bikes and may be muddy in places.

We will go at a moderate pace (2 mph) with plenty of rest breaks as needed.  Bring lunch and plenty of water and dress in layers.  Hiking poles and waterproof boots are strongly recommended.

For safety we will all hike as a group so please assess beforehand whether this distance/elevation gain/pace will suit you before registering.
