Reflection Lakes

Trip

Basic Snowshoe - Reflection Lakes

A classic snow shoe route in Mount Rainier through the woods to a snow covered iconic location. Priority will be given to this year's Olympia Basic Snow Shoe Course students.

  • Moderate
  • Easy
  • Mileage: 5.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 900 ft

We will meet at Longmire parking area, behind the Nisqually Inn, but closer to the restrooms toward the backcountry ranger office, at 8:30 AM. We will wait for the gate to open and then proceed to the Narada Falls parking area.  A Mt. Rainier Park pass is required for all vehicles, and chains must be carried in all vehicles as well.

I will be driving either a newer  white Subaru Cross-Trek Limited, or an older Silver Honda Pilot.

Trip is subject to weather conditions and park opening. The trip could be cancelled, or an alternate destination may be chosen on short notice.

Covid restrictions apply. Fully vaccinated individuals only. I will plan to verify vaccination status. (Note: I'm fully vaccinated and 'boosted')

We will plan to take the route up and over the hump (Mazama Ridge), thereby avoiding the road to Reflection Lake. Possibly circle the lake and return. Trip will be approximately 6 miles, 900 feet elevation gain. I've set this up as an easy pace, but please understand it's not a flat route.  Priority will be given to 2022 Olympia Basic Snow Show students.
