The trail follows an old logging road switchbacking up to Kendall basin and eventually to the knob overlooking the Gold Creek Basin and to the resort if the weather is clear enough. The total round trip is expected to be 9 miles and we will be traveling at a moderate pace. We will plan to eat lunch at the knob and do a little exploring before returning the way we came.
This trip is subject to cancellation depending on weather conditions.
We will meet at the Preston Park & Ride at 7:30 on the North Side of I90 at Exit 22 to consolidate vehicles.
For drivers, take Exit 54 off of I-90 (2 miles east of Snoqualmie Pass), turn left, and cross under the interstate. A few hundred feet north of the interchange, turn right onto a narrow paved road and drive east paralleling I-90 one mile. Cars generally line both sides of this road, because the shoulder is the primary parking area for the long Gold Creek Sno-Park. Park at the end of the plowed road, near the small bridge over the stream connecting Mardee and Keechelus Lakes.
Drivers will require a daily or season sno-park pass to park. Depending on traffic going over the pass, we will plan to leave from the Sno-Park at approximately 8:30.
