  • Mileage: 13.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 5,780 ft

Meet at the Cascade Pass TH early (TBD but probably 3:30 or 4AM) on Saturday.  Recommend sleeping in cars the night before at the TH. You will need a Northwest Forest Service or America the Beautiful pass to park at the TH.

Registration priority is as follows:

  1. 6/16 - 6/22 - Priority to Seattle Intensive Basic Students/Grads.
  2. 6/23 onward - I will add those who request leader permission and are well suited for the trip (conditioning, experience, expectations/goals, etc)

Rope leads - feel free to reach out at any time. Ideally you should have trad experience (experience with setting up a handline plus exposed class 4 rock scramble at a minimum)

This will be a fun but strenuous one-day climb. You must be prepared and fit for a long day with a lot of elevation gain and loss. We won't go crazy fast, but we will hike and climb efficiently. Pacing: all day, moderate pace (averaging 800 ft per hour). Expect 12-14 hrs car to car. Approximately 8 hrs to the summit and 5 hrs to get down. We'll take breaks every hour, but we will try to keep them short.

LEADER PERMISSION QUESTION: When you ask the leader for permission, please outline your fitness level and answer the following: what climb have you done in the last two months that exceeded 8 hrs, 13 miles, or 5000 feet gain in a single day.

THE MOUNT SI FITNESS TEST IS NOT A GOOD INDICATOR OF ADEQUATE FITNESS FOR THIS ACTIVITY.

Things that could be good indicators of fitness, all with climbing packs (25 lbs), done in a single day, car to car evet

  • Double Si
  • Mt Adams
  • Mt Hood
  • Mt St Helens
  • Paradise to Camp Muir, 5 hrs up
