TRIP OVERVIEW

  • One-way, counterclockwise circumnavigation of the Wonderland Trail in Mount Rainier National Park (sorry, no dogs allowed).
  • 9-13 miles a day with significant elevation gain and loss each day.

PLEASE BE AWARE...

  • Weather, wildfire smoke, or other hazards may cancel this trip.
  • Backcountry camping permit has already been obtained by trip leader from the national park and we aren't be able to change the itinerary. 

TRIP COSTS

  • Participants are expected to arrange their own travel and pay their way to Mt. Rainier National Park and for any lodging there.
  • Arriving the day prior to this trip's start date is recommended. You may also need an extra day 1 month in advance to hand-deliver your food / supply caches to Mowich Lake and Longmire Wilderness Information Center. The park requires that caches are delivered at several weeks prior to the trip start date.
  • Participants are expected to pay their share of the camping permit.
  • Your registration will be canceled if you do not pay these costs to primary trip leader - costs will be shared in advance.

Required Equipment

The Ten Essentials plus overnight gear which may include:

  • Tent with footprint/ground tarp
  • Stove and fuel
  • Sleeping bag
  • Sleeping pad
  • Water filter
  • Bear canister or extra stuff sack and cord designated for hanging food
  • Cooking pot/pan with plate and utensils
  • Toilet paper and shovel or blue bag to deal with waste
  • Your own food- no group meals
  • You are responsible for preparing your own food caches in accordance with Mt. Rainier National Park guidelines. Find the park's guidelines here.
