This is a youth/family backpack for families with youth 12+.

  • Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 20.2 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 260 ft

Rialto Beach Parking lot - will take the shuttle up to Ozette from here (roughly $75 per person).

America the Beautiful Pass or Olympic Parks Pass required to park.

More details and decisions closer to the trip date.

This is a family backpacking trip only open to adults with youth 12+. When requesting permission, please tell me the age of your child, your experience backpacking and the length of your longest trip.

There is overlanding via rope ladders. Be comfortable hauling yourself and your backpack up steep, muddy and slippery embankments. Also, May on the Coast can be very chilly at night (think potentially 30-40F), so plan accordingly and bring warm enough gear to move and sleep comfortably!

Bear Canisters are required on the Coast - they are available to borrow for free from the Olympic National Park Wilderness Information Center in Port Angeles or a Bearikade is rentable from https://wild-ideas.net/rent/

Water on the coast contain cryptosporidium and giardia, so a filter is a must (cannot use iodine). I plan on bringing both a gravity filter and Aquamira.

There will be a $32 per adult wilderness permit + service fee that you can Venmo/Paypal me prior to the trip start date. For parking, you will also need either an Olympic Parks Pass or an America the Beautiful pass.
