Backpack - Enchanted Valley

Optional pre trip camping at Graves Creek Campground available on a 1st come 1st served basis. 

This is a relaxed 3 day 2 night trip suitable for beginners with field tested backpack gear and recent day hiking experience of 9 or more miles at 2 mph. This is one of Washington State’s iconic backpacking trips, with a knockout-beautiful destination.

Day 1 – Hike 9 miles from Graves Creek Trailhead to Pyrites Creek Camp where we will set up camp and spend the night.

Day 2 - Continue 4 miles to Enchanted Valley where we will camp our 2nd night.

After lunch, participants will have the option to relax, take a short hike to see the world’s largest Western Hemlock or venture further toward Anderson Pass. Please note: snow is likely above the valley and higher elevation exploration will be done as a group with a preset turnaround time.

Day 3 – Hike out 13 miles to Graves Creek Trailhead and begin the journey home.

Bear canisters required.  Carpools encouraged. Participants will be responsible for the $16 pp permit fee. Additional details, information and GPX tracks will be shared with participants.

***Preference will be given to 2024 B3 students for the 1st week of registration***  Students are asked to complete one  backpack prior to departure to field test gear but this may include a scheduled B3 trip such as Ancient Lakes and Chelan Lakeshore previously posted. Students should also have recent day hiking experience with 9+ miles at 2 mph.

  • Tent with footprint/ground tarp
  • Stove and fuel
  • Sleeping bag

  • Toilet paper and shovel or blue bag to deal with waste
