[This peak is in Oregon: Please read leader notes before signing up] Technical Exposed Scramble to another volcano in the west coast

  • Basic Alpine Climb
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 9.1 mi

(Please do not request for sign up until registration opens)

Plan for the week: The leader is planning a week long trip to Oregon and California to climb three volcanoes - Lassen Peak, Mt Thielsen and McLoughlin. This would mean- a road trip with potential participants with side tours to hot springs/ lakes/ breweries. Participants should be vaccinated and preferably flexible in scheduling and help with trip planning

About this Trip:

Preference for Basic Alpine and Scramble Grads, who are volunteering with the club.

The last summit section of 80 feet is exposed Class 4 rock, which requires previous T5 scrambling experience. Depending on the exposure, we might chose to setup a handline to downclimb - so scramble students should be comfortable using Kleimheist knots to get down.

While requesting leaders permission -

1. List the recent alpine climbs/ T5 scrambles you have done

2. Will you be joining us for the rest of the trip

3. Are you vaccinated?

4. Are you comfortable with exposed terrain?

5. How comfortable are you with Kleimheist or prusik knots

Preference to folks signing up for Lassen Peak and McLoughlin Trips

Considering the amount of planning required to get this trip going, please only request permission if you are 100% sure you can make the climb and are in perfect condition. Last minute cancellations on this trip will be frowned and will go on my personal no-go list.
