Alpine Scramble - Lookout Dome Traverse & Mount Storm King Traverse

Gorgeous (but strenuous) sunset/sunrise views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca (and central Olympics) from the summit of Lookout Dome. This overnight scramble for fully vaccinated folks ascends/descends by way of Barnes Creek.

  • Moderate/Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 20.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 5,000 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 5,050 ft

Arranged via email.

[This trip only visits Lookout Dome, NOT Storm King] A beautiful hike up a pristine valley, followed by stunning sunrise and sunset views.  The gatekeeper for these views are the ~10 miles (20 miles round trip) and ~5000’ of elevation gain between the cars and our resting place for the night, a situation that contributes to a solitary experience.  Photos from past trips to this area can be seen here and here.
