A great alternate venue for a springtime scramble owing to the recent snows in the Cascades. Although a hike in the summer, this very strenuous clockwise traverse (which ascends via the Little River Trail, see map below) will encounter snow at ~3500’ before reaching the crest of Hurricane Ridge at 5073’. After summiting Hurricane Hill we will descend the Elwha-Hurricane Hill Trail to reach our cars at the Madison Falls parking area. A very long day of ~17 miles with ~5500’ elevation gain. Photos from past trips (on various months of the year) can be seen here.
