Alpine Scramble - Hawkins Mountain

A long but enjoyable trek to the top of one of the highest peaks in the Teanaway.

  • Technical 3, Strenuous 4
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 12.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,700 ft

DeRoux TH at 8am

Please note that we will be going in from the NF of the Teanaway side of Hawkins rather than the standard route so it's a little more strenuous.  Right now the weather is looking pretty mild for this strip so conditions should be great and it is huckleberry season so we will be able to partake of nature's bounty along the way. :)

There are a lot of miles to cover so we will travel at a fairly brisk pace with few stops.  It's a fairly small party size so please only sign up if you are able manage that type of pace.  And also please come prepared to have fun because that's the whole point. :)

Please also note that I will be bringing my dog, Theo, who is part Vizsla and part mountain goat.  He has been to the top of most of the peaks in the Teanaway including Hawkins.  If you have a dog that is capable of this type of trip and is dog/people friendly you may bring them.  I am marking this trip as Leader Permission required but you only need permission if you plan to bring a dog.
