Alpine Scramble - Foss Peak

Longmire at 8:00am.  National Park Pass or entry fee required to enter the Park.  We will suggest options for carpooling if desired.  

A snow scramble for women scramblers and those who identify as women.  First priority to women scramble students from any branch through Sunday 5/12; open to  women scramblers and climbers beginning on Monday 5/13.

Come enjoy a fun snow scramble with a group of sister women scramblers!   We will not be stopping to explicitly practice self-arrest, but there will be plenty of opportunity to practice navigation and other snow skills in a supportive environment.  We will use walking in balance on steeper slopes, terrain evaluation, and very possibly glissading.  All participants will be expected to be actively engaged in navigation, trail breaking/ step kicking, and group decision-making.  We aim for a team that is supportive of each other; "one for all and all for one".  

Destination will be shifted should weather or snow conditions indicate.   A note on pacing:  I mentioned a moderate pace, but know that I fall on the slower side of moderate.  We will seek to move as a team, so please be comfortable with this.
