On a cloudy but dry May 24, 2016, 7 scramblers successfully climbed Tamanos Mountain. Snow conditions were variable but generally good for kicking steps, plunge stepping and glissading.
We used the Pratt Lake trail head and so extra miles. Woodland flowers are blooming now and the stream crossings are very pretty.
Weather predicted rain but it held off and even cleared up. Great snow up high and all around a great trip.
Divided into 3 groups. The route was over to the locks and around the North side of Discovery Park. There was some wind. When we went around West point the wind picked up with some wave action.
Great spring weather, wildflowers and a little bit of snow up top to make it feel like a good day in the high country
Wild and woolly wind and seas. A brave crew performing well under less than ideal conditions. And what is with our destination being upwind both ways? The sea is a mystery.
